MOUNT EDGECOMBE ESTATE LODGE - Mount Edgecombe Hotels

A fresh breakfast is included daily. Other meals can be prepared on request. The nearby clubhouse (a short walk across the golf course) serves well-priced food, and guests report good meals there. The bar area offers a lounge for sundowners. Some guests wish for an honesty bar or a fridge for drinks on the veranda.

The lodge sits on the Mount Edgecombe Country Club estate, which features two 18-hole championship golf courses. Onsite facilities include an outdoor pool, a tennis court, squash courts, racquetball courts, and a sun terrace with loungers and umbrellas. The pool is open year-round and has a fence. The grounds are quiet and secure. Guests can also walk directly to the golf course from their room.

The lodge is 2 km from Gateway Theatre of Shopping, a 10-minute drive from Umhlanga's beaches and restaurants, and a 20-minute drive from Durban. King Shaka International Airport is 18 km away. Access to the estate requires daily gate codes from the host-the gate closes at 6 pm, and late arrivals need to coordinate. The lodge offers free private parking, street parking, and an airport shuttle on request.

The property is a gated estate with 24-hour security, key card access, and fire extinguishers. It provides daily housekeeping, luggage storage, laundry, and a shared lounge with a TV. Check-in/out is private. The host (Andrew) is often praised for accommodating late arrivals, helping with gate access, and allowing guests to keep rooms after checkout for illness. The lodge does not offer an on-site business center or fridge in rooms, but the clubhouse has conference facilities. The estate does not allow external visitors without additional codes.
