Spacious Two-Bedroom Chalet
The Two-Bedroom Chalet at The FarSide Dam Cottage has two bedrooms, each with an en-suite shower, and the main bedroom also includes a standalone enamel bath. Electric blankets and good beds are provided, and wooden cottage-pane windows on two sides offer views over the dam. The ground-floor unit opens onto a private patio with outdoor dining furniture.
Kitchen
A full English or Irish breakfast is served daily. The kitchen includes granite countertops, a gas stove, a dishwasher, and a washing machine with detergent supplied. A tumble dryer is also available. Guests can have meals at the large wooden dining table indoors or use the barbecue on the patio.
Lounge and Entertainment
The lounge has comfortable couches arranged around a fireplace, perfect for cold evenings. A TV with Netflix is provided, and free WiFi works throughout the cottage. Board games and books are available for quiet times.
Location
The cottage is located 58 km from Pietermaritzburg Airport. It sits near the freeway, just past Brahman Hills and Windmills, making it a short drive to restaurants and shops in Nottingham Road. You can also reach Howick or Curry's Post via the freeway. The dam in front of the patio is home to trout, and you can watch Nguni cattle, secretary birds, and crowned cranes from the property.
Amenities
The property offers free on-site private parking, free WiFi, and a bar. Pets are allowed, and the entire chalet is non-smoking. The host, Ryan, is usually on site and easy to contact. Staff service the cottage daily. An invoice is provided for all stays.
“The sense of seclusion here is remarkable, with the cottage providing a warm, beautifully appointed haven. Its proximity to the freeway is a welcome practicality, yet the tranquility and expansive views over water and pastures create a genuine escape. The ample firewood and well-equipped kitchen make settling in effortless, underscored by the exceptional comfort of the fireplace and shower.”
