Rooms
Rooms at Bhangazi Lodge are named after African animals, such as the Lion Room and Giraffe Room. Each has a seating area, TV, tea-and-coffee making facilities, and a private bathroom with deep soaking bathtub and rainfall showerhead. Some rooms open onto a patio with direct pool access and offer garden or pool views.
Cooked-to-Order Breakfast
A cooked-to-order breakfast is served daily, including Simon's famous stuffed omelettes with all the trimmings. Guests also have access to a labeled refrigerator, complimentary coffee, tea, and bottled water throughout the day.
Leisure
The outdoor swimming pool is surrounded by sun loungers and umbrellas. The lodge offers bicycle rentals, walking tours, and tour booking assistance for activities like whale watching, snorkeling at Cape Vidal, and safaris to Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve.
Gateway to iSimangaliso
Bhangazi Lodge is at the gateway to iSimangaliso Wetland Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Game Reserve is an hour by car. The lodge is walkable to St Lucia town and beach, but at night driving is advised due to hippos wandering the streets. Many restaurants are nearby.
Services
Hosts Mandy and Simon provide detailed local advice and can book tours. Services include luggage storage, private check-in/check-out, airport shuttle, laundry for a fee, and free secured parking. The lodge has solar panels to maintain power during load shedding.
“Mandy and Simon's thoughtful approach truly transforms this lodge into a tranquil escape, blending vibrant African artistry with genuine hospitality. Their tailored local advice and the delightful, animal-themed rooms, some with direct pool access, create a sense of personal care rare in larger establishments. It's this attention to detail and warmth that makes a stay here so restorative.”
